A tooth abscess, like any abscess, can be exquisitely painful. This is because your mouth is rich in nerves. And if a nerve is injured, by an abscess or dental work, you’ll know all about it.

Damaged nerve pain is typically shooting in nature. As if you have had an electric shock. The pain can be momentary, periodic or continuous, but intense. You may also experience a stinging pain or a numbness.

Most abscesses are dealt with by antibiotics. But there are other ways to deal effectively with them and the pain that invariably accompanies them.

The homeopathic treatment of any nerve pain is with the medicine called Hypericum. This treats the pain so effectively, it just melts away. It’s able to do this because it has healed the injury, rather than just masked it. Along with the pain, goes the infection.

So think of this medicine for any dental work which has touched (and so injured) a nerve. Even if you didn’t feel it, because of the anaesthetic.

Hypericum is by no means the only homeopathic medicine for a tooth abscess, but it is if the nerve has been damaged in any way.

The suggested potency (strength) for this is a 30c and the suggested dosage is once a hour until there is improvement.

If after four doses, the pain is no better, then this may not be the right medicine for this condition, for you. You may need to reassess your symptoms and look for another, closer homeopathic medicine.
